Septic Care Tips.
A few habits that keep your system working and save you from an expensive replacement.
Treat It Right And It Lasts.
A septic system is out of sight, so it's easy to forget until something backs up. Most early failures come from a few avoidable things: too much water at once, the wrong stuff down the drain, and a tank that never gets pumped.
We install and repair septic systems. We don't pump tanks, but we're happy to point you to a good local pumper.
Do's And Don'ts
The short list.
Pump On Schedule
Have the tank pumped and inspected regularly. How often depends on tank size and household.
Spread Out The Water
Space out laundry loads and fix running toilets and leaky faucets.
Only Toilet Paper
No wipes (even "flushable"), grease, paper towels, or feminine products.
Go Easy On Chemicals
Bleach, drain cleaners, and paint thinners kill the bacteria the system needs.
Protect The Field
No vehicles, livestock, pools, or buildings over the drain field. Plant grass, not trees.
Know The Warning Signs
Slow drains, gurgling, sewage smell, soggy ground, or extra-green grass over the lines.
If Something Seems Wrong
Cut Back On Water
Hold off on laundry and long showers.
Call A Pumper
A full tank is the most common and cheapest fix.
Call Us For Repairs
Broken lines, failed tanks, or a failing field.
Fix It Right
Repair or replacement, permit to final inspection.
Common Questions
How often should a septic tank be pumped?
It depends on tank size and how many people live in the house. Many homes need it every few years. Ask a licensed pumper to check yours.
Are flushable wipes safe for septic?
No. Wipes don't break down like toilet paper and can clog the tank and lines.
Do you pump septic tanks?
No. We install, repair, and replace septic systems. We can recommend a local pumper.
